Georgetown Police Shares Information on Underage Drinking Ahead of End-of-School-Year Activities

Georgetown Police would like to share the following Public Service Announcement from the Essex County District Attorney’s Office regarding underage drinking, drinking and driving, and social hosts. 

The end of the school year is right around the corner and includes end-of-year activities such as the Prom and graduation. Georgetown Police would like to emphasize the dangers of driving under the influence and underage drinking.

The safety of our community is our top priority, and Georgetown Police would like to share the following safety tips and reminders with residents and community members: 

  • The legal drinking age is 21 years old.
  • It is illegal to provide alcohol to anyone under the legal age of 21. This also includes if minors are drinking on your property or in your home. 
  • Never get behind the wheel if you have been drinking or are under the influence of drugs, and do not get in the car with someone who is under the influence.
  • Operating under the influence is illegal.
