Georgetown Police would like to share information about dead birds and bird flu.
As a reminder, Georgetown Police does not currently have an Animal Control Officer. Wild animals or dead birds should not be brought to the police or fire stations.
There have been no reports of dead or sick birds in Georgetown.
Residents who encounter a sick or dead animal should never approach or touch it. Touching dead animals can result in severe sicknesses, including possibly bird flu.
If your pet eats a dead animal or bird, monitor their behavior for possible signs of infection or rabies and contact your local veterinarian.
Residents or community members who wish to report observations of dead birds can fill out a form with the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife), here.
