Georgetown Police Department Launches New Initiative to Support Neurodivergent Individuals

The Georgetown Police Department is pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of neurodivergent individuals in our community. This program allows community members to voluntarily and confidentially identify individuals with neurodivergent conditions, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who live, work, or attend school in Georgetown.

The primary goal of this initiative is to promote effective communication and ensure that consistently high levels of public safety services are available to those who may benefit from special considerations. By participating in this program, residents can provide the Georgetown Police with critical information that can be invaluable during an emergency situation.

Neurodivergent individuals and their families may face nuanced challenges during emergency situations, and the goal of this program is to help us better serve all members of our community by providing our officers with the information they need to respond with care and understanding.

To register for the program, community members are encouraged to fill out the form on our website. The information provided will be stored securely and used only by the Georgetown Police Department to enhance our response in emergency situations involving neurodivergent individuals.

To register or learn more about the program, please visit the page on our new website here: https://georgetownmapd.com/neurodivergent-program/
